PAN Africa took part in an information and awareness-raising workshop on standards on limiting the content of lead in paints at the Les Résidences Mamoune hotel in Dakar-Senegal.
The workshop was organized by Center Anti Poison and the Department of the Environment and Classified Establishments (DEEC) in collaboration with the Senegalese Association for Standardization (ASN). The main objective is to reduce the health impacts of lead on children and workers handling paints and similar coatings by popularizing the NS 09-059 standard on the lead content limits in paints and by raising awareness among the various stakeholders on the health impacts of lead.
It saw the participation of about sixty people from the technical services of the State, actors of painting, consumer associations, community actors, civil society and the press.
