A preparatory meeting for the African Regional Dialogue on Pollution Management (mercury, unintentionally produced persistent organic pollutants – UPOPs – and electronic waste) was held on 21 May 2026 at the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition under the chairmanship of Colonel Alassane Ngom.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Baba Dramé, Director of the DEEC, highlighted the importance of this regional event scheduled to take place in Dakar on 15 June 2026 within the framework of the Pollution Management and Environmental Health Program for Africa (PGSENPA), funded by the World Bank.

The dialogue aims to strengthen stakeholders’ capacities, promote regional cooperation, and identify common solutions for improved pollution management. It will bring together representatives of public administrations, international organizations, local authorities, civil society organizations, technical and financial partners, as well as experts in the field.

Participants also reviewed the organizational arrangements for the event, including the opening protocol, field visits, exhibition spaces, and logistical provisions necessary for its successful implementation.

At the end of the discussions, all stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to continue preparations and ensure the success of the African Regional Dialogue on Pollution Management.
