On April 22, 2026, PAN Africa took part in a sharing meeting organized at the Directorate General of Health on the practical guide and the provisions of COP6 of the Minamata Convention related to dental amalgam.
The meeting aimed to present the main guidelines of the practical guide dedicated to reducing the use of dental amalgam and ensuring its environmentally sound management. Discussions also focused on the training plan for stakeholders, the content of the practical guide, and the report on the decisions adopted during the Sixth Conference of the Parties (COP6) to the Minamata Convention.
The meeting brought together around twenty organizations from various sectors, highlighting the collective interest in issues related to the management of mercury-containing products and the protection of public health and the environment.
Through its participation, PAN Africa reaffirms its commitment to promoting sustainable solutions and environmentally friendly practices, particularly in the management of chemicals and hazardous waste.
